feguess — Guess the Fire Emblem Character from a Pixelated Portrait
A Fire Emblem character hidden behind heavy pixelation. Each guess sharpens the image. A new character every day.
Pixel mode — guess the Fire Emblem character from a pixelated portrait
Pixel mode gives you the answer’s official portrait, reduced to a handful of coloured blocks. Your first look is roughly six blocks across: enough to read hair colour and armour tone, nowhere near enough to name anyone.
Each guess doubles the resolution — 6, 9, 13, 19, 28, 42, 64 blocks — until the full artwork is on screen. The skill is calling it early, from silhouette shape and palette alone.
How Pixel mode works
- Study the blocks. Hair colour, armour, cape and background palette all survive heavy pixelation.
- Type a guess. Every guess, right or wrong, sharpens the portrait by one step.
- There are seven steps from coarse blocks to the full portrait, and no limit on guesses beyond that.
- Only characters that actually have a portrait in the database can be the answer here.
Pixel mode — questions
- Can I just inspect the page to find the answer?
- No. Portrait files are stored under hashed filenames rather than character names, and the image is drawn to an offscreen canvas before being downscaled — the visible canvas never holds the original pixels and there is no image element with the answer’s name in it.
- Does Pixel share progress with Shadow mode?
- No, they are fully separate: separate answers, separate seeds, separate saved progress. (An earlier build did leak state between the two — that was a bug, and it is fixed.)
- How many steps does the portrait take to clear up?
- Seven. The block grid goes 6 → 9 → 13 → 19 → 28 → 42 → 64 and then to the full-resolution artwork.
- Why is a character I know missing?
- Pixel mode can only use units with an available portrait. Characters without one are still valid guesses, they just never appear as the answer.
